Lisa Larson was born on the ninth of September 1931.

Her artistic talents were quickly discovered when she as a young child redesingned her parents lawn with scissors and when she later moved on to cut and paint funny.

18 years old she applied to the School of Industrial Art & Design in Gothenburg, and she was accepted, even though she forgot to choose a major subject. She thought that she wanted to study Fashion Drawing, but was steered to Ceramics with an option to switch to another subject after one year.

She studied under Kurt Ekholm, a renowned ceramist from the Arabia company of Helsinki, Finland and she quickly discovered her fondness for ceramics and especially for the Chamotte Clay, which suited her forceful designs perfectly.

At the end of her 5 year study, she participated in an art contest between all the Art schools of Sweden. Stig Lindberg was one of the judges, and he quickly saw her talent, sined her to Gustavsberg and took her under his wing. Together with Britt-Louise Sundell, she was given a "playground", as they all called it, in the Gustavsberg factory. In the Playground they could work completely freely, and Stig isited them each day to see what they had created and to discuss forms, glazing and techniques.

One day Lisa had made a small cat with it's tail straight up. Stig liked it and suggested that it should be developed for production. Lisa first design for Gustavsberg was very much "Lisa" from the start : Cats are Lisas favorit anmal, both in clay and as pets, even though she also has made many different dogs and other animals as well since 1954.

Lisa worked for 26 years at Gustavsberg, making over 300 different designs for her Fans and Collectors, but during that time she also continuously produced many unique, handcrafted creations that often was very different from her serial produced ones.

She is well known worlwide and have had many exhibitions international :
Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Amsterdam, London, Geneva, Munich, Copenhagen and Tokyo.
